He's heavily addicted to Alcohol after the death of his fiancé. That one tragic event burned a hole in his soul the size of the city he is sworn to protect. For reasons unknown however, a demon stalks Danny, and only through being constantly drunk can he fight the sway of the devil, whispering constant suicide in his ear.
