These pieces were created in reaction to the disingenuous nature of many social media influencers. There is a lot of power for manipulation through digital identities. As content platforms become more democratized, it is the responsibility of creators and consumers to convey truths. Masks and facades can be powerful tools to gain influence, but they can also become suffocating to the creator and detrimental to the consumer. Masks can be created out of innocent insecurity or a more sinister sociopathic drive for power and influence. Disingenuous creators with massive followings are very scary. Dumb people with massive followings are funny. It is up to the consumer to think critically about the content they are being served and distinguish their own truths about how to live a fulfilling life by parsing through millions of contradictory ideals presented by "masked" individuals.
